Wonderful piece!!!! So much truth and great takeaways. I think that the "adding words to a document" is the best advice to any writer. You really describe very relatable journeys that the writer or artist deals with over a lifetime. Of course that writing community is a powerful tool for the soul of any artist - especially with such a complicated art such as writing. Thank you for writing this.

Atul, thank you for reading it and for your kind words! I love it that you mention a lifetime of writing. That's really what it's all about: the lifelong journey, the endurance it takes to ride out the highs and lows over the long haul. Not unlike marriage, now that I think of it.

So true. The writing community grounds us, cheers us, pushes us forward, comforts us, and nurses the wounds. They critique, workshop, but don’t judge. They welcome us, and let us know that our “crazy” parts are also our creative parts, and they make us who we are. Thank you for a beautiful reminder!

Meri, thank you for those kind words! Beautifully said. I can't imagine life without my writing community, and I'm glad you have your people, too. What would we do without those friendships?
